We left Ellenborough as we needed to make trek back down south for our mates wedding. We wanted to go to Tamworth to check it out and we found a site about 30kms out at Woolomin. It’s a little site with flushable toilets in the centre of their town on a little creek. The creek is big enough to have a dip in but nothing more. We stayed here over Easter. The first night we got some great photos of the night sky and captured something that could have been a planet or a satellite, we still have to find out. 5kms from our campsite is Chaffey’s Dam which is huge. There are plenty of people water skiing out on the dam. We don’t have reception at our camp site so we drive 5km to the Chaffey Dam Lookout to make our calls and have a bit of a look.

On Easter Saturday we went into Tamworth and found a pub that would put the footy on for us and Watched the Dees win their first game of the season. Mags was pretty excited about that. We spent the evening listening to some crackly radio so I could hear the bulldogs game and they got up to. Its hard finding Stations playing AFL with NSW being so rugby oriented so we were pretty happy.
Easter Sunday we went to Nundle to check out their Chinese Festival. There were heaps of stalls with local produce, food, clothes and heaps of other stuff. It was good to have a look around and the weather was much better than the day before. It started to rain later in the afternoon so we went back to our camp. We had bought some pineapples for another couple at our site and we ended up getting chatting and they had some really funny stories to tell. They were cooking silverside which was smelling awesome, they didn’t let us stay for tea but they said we can have some if we see them on our travels again. It was a nice way to spend our Easter Sunday.

After the Easter weekend we continued our trip south towards Echuca for our mates wedding. The weather was shocking, we had some of the heaviest rain we’ve seen in our whole trip so we weren’t too worried about stopping and looking around too much. We spent one night in Dubbo and the following morning we went to the movies to see Fast and Furious 7 which was great.
After the movies we made our way to Narrandera. We passed through the town of Parkes and stopped in at the famous satellite. It is huge, a whopping 65 metres across. You could get up pretty close to it and it made you feel pretty miniature. The information centre next to it was pretty interesting and was free too, definitely recommend going there if you’re nearby. Parkes is also famous for their annual Elvis Festival which is held in January each year. Maggie is a huge Elvis fan and was excited to see the Elvis museum. It’s a collection of actual Elvis belongings and memorabilia collected by Greg, the Yellow Wiggle. It was interesting to see and you get entry to the 3 other museums in the cost of your admission.
